What I Wore • #002

I know. Me. In an outfit. In a photo. Right here, on my blog. Yes, it’s a “What I Wore” post, finally! I’d avoided taking outfit photos for so long, because in fairness they take a considerable amount of prep time, not to mention the fact that some days it doesn’t even seem to get light— and I’m a natural light kinda gal. I’d forgotten just how hard it can be to take self portraits, so the above photos leave a lot to be desired! Still, practice makes perfect and hopefully I’ll find somewhere a little more suitable in the flat soon, too.

New Look… New Look… Primark… New Look— a pattern you’ll see repeated several times in my wardrobe!

Goodies: New Look’s January Sale

I love a bargain— like, really, love a bargain— so the January sales are a little slice of heaven for me. With saving, babies and working less hours, I don’t have the disposable cash that I used to, so long gone are binges in Primark and Boots!

Phoebe Winged Tote, £14.99, available here in red!
Owl sweater, £10
Long skull studded vest, £7

Wishlist • #003 | Winter Coats

Brrr! Looking at the mist, fog and dull sky outside the window today, I think we can safely say that the British winter’s on it’s way. I think we’re going to completely bypass autumn, just like we did summer this year and head straight for torrential rain. Excellent. I, like many people, hate this time of year— it’s cold, wet, windy, your hair turns to a frizzy mess (or you suffer from Hat Hair) and everyone seems to get ill— plus the days are so short. Rubbish.

They are few and far between, and I have to look really hard for them, but one of the redeeming features of this season, is shopping for a winter coat. I like mine to be warm and cosy, functional with big pockets and cinch me in at the waist, but I haven’t found anything I’ve fallen in love with just yet. I like the pieces I’ve picked above, particularly #no2, but it doesn’t have a hood and I have a feeling that I’ll be needing one from now on, because as much as I feel like Supermum sometimes, I don’t think I can battle with wind, rain, baby, pram and umbrella all at once.

Have you chosen your winter coat yet? I’m genuinely interested to see what others have picked, so let me know what you’re going for this year!

Despite the fact my Met Office Weather app tells me that the next five days are full of sunshine, I’m coming to terms with the fact that we’ve had the suckiest summer for a hundred years, by getting excited about Autumn!

Yep, all those items (apart from the nail polish), are from New Look— & no, this post isn’t sponsored! It’s just my fail-safe, go-to place and I love it for affordable, high street fashion. (Plus, it’s the only clothes shop in my small & very local shopping centre, that isn’t M&S or a teeny Topshop!)

I’m not exactly a rebel or groundbreaker when it comes to my wardrobe, but I don’t usually stick to the ‘rules’ either (see: shorts with tights. WIN.) I think a lot of people see Autumn and Winter as the time to tone down your closet and wear neutral, muted colours. I, on the other hand, am quite happy to wear neon pink in the depths of winter and at the moment, I’m quite looking forward to mixing bright colours with khaki, burgundy and purple, as well as eyeing-up leather, studs and chunky knitwear!

An outfit post? I know! It’s perhaps not the best day to start taking outfit photos— a day of decorating and shifting stuff around our flat, means uninspiring iPhone photos, no time (let alone space!) for my tripod and baby fodder in the background of my snaps— BUT I’m finally ticking another thing off of my 101 in 1001 list#85: Make an outfit post at least 20 times in one year! But there’s more…

When I went to the Toni & Guy “Hair Meet Wardrobe” event, we were invited to take part in the photo-a-day challenge they were having in conjunction with Facehunter, leading up to London Fashion Week. Well, that time has come! I’m an ambassador for the challenge and for the next 14 days, I’ll be posting daily snaps of my outfit on Instagram (username: aimeemariecom) and Twitter, with more outfit information on this very blog.

You can take part too, and there’s also a prize to be won: a Hair Meet Wardrobe styling session and photo shoot in the TONI&GUY Style Hub at London Fashion Week!

How To Enter:
001. There’s a theme for each day (above), which you can interpret as you wish, with a photo of your own outfit, someone else’s, or something different.
002. Upload your photo to Instagram and/or Twitter!
003. Add #hairmeetwardrobe and @hair_wardrobe to your caption/tweet, plus tag the theme if you wish!

The Small Print
• At the end of the 14 days, Facehunter will pick his favourite photo based on quality, creativity and how well the total look is expressed with hair meeting wardrobe in perfect union.
• The winner will receive a trip to London during Fashion Week, backstage access to the TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe Style Hub, a styling session with a top TONI&GUY stylist and a photo shoot with Facehunter. The winning photo will also be featured in the Hair Meet Wardrobe Style Hub at London Fashion Week.
• The winner must be available to travel to London on Saturday 15th September and attend the show and Style Hub on Sunday 16th. Rail travel and one night accommodation in central London hotel for the winner and a friend will be included in the prize.

Good luck and let me know if you take part!
