While Usain Bolt was preparing to win the Mens 200m at the Olympic Park last week (again! What a guy!), I was in a warehouse in nearby Shoreditch, sipping cocktails, having my hair styled, my make-up done and perusing amazing clothes and accessories, at Toni & Guy’s Hair Meet Wardrobe event. In between working full-time, getting married in 2011 and having a baby in 2012, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to any kind of event, so this was one I was looking forward to— & it didn’t disappoint!

I get bored of my hair really easily (see?) and sometimes find maintaining a hair style every day a bit of a chore, not to mention a challenge, when there’s a little person who wants you to play, in the next room. So, Toni & Guy were there to help and also talk about your hair meeting your style— whether you’re going for casual, glamour, creative or classic, they’ve launched a great range of products for each style.

Right now, I’m a low maintenance kind of girl, especially given the recent, massive change in my lifestyle. There’s rarely time for my hair to look creative, and anything glamourous is out of the question, as little dribble-covered hands seem to be attracted to sleek, glossy hair. My stylist (and International Artistic director at Toni & Guy! Whoah!) Cos Sakkas (who also has the happiest face you’ve ever seen) gave my hair a lot more texture and volume using products from the ‘Casual’ collection— Sea Salt Texturising Spray and Sculpting Powder— and then mixed it up a bit with a spritz of Moisturising Spray from the ‘Glamour’ collection.

My make-up was then freshened up (it was so hot that afternoon, not to mention the fact we were in what felt like a greenhouse!) before I waded through the clothes and jewellery on offer from Monki, Religion and Tatty Devine to name but a few. Had I known that there was going to be a photoshoot and videographer, I would’ve prepared myself mentally a little more (being in front of the lens is the wrong side of the camera, for me!) and perhaps worn something else, but unfortunately it looks like I’m just wearing jeans and a t-shirt as my wedges are out of shot and I’d removed my blazer. Doh! I’m also breaking my rule about wearing sunglasses inside, but I was hiding behind those peepers!

You might be interested to know, that on the countdown to London Fashion Week, I’ll be taking part in a photo a day documenting my personal style, in conjunction with Toni & Guy and streetstyle blogger, Facehunter. Follow #HairMeetWardrobe on Instagram and Twitter, to see photos from both myself and others, from September 1st. You can take part too, if you fancy it!

You look so cutely awkward here, haha!
Haha, I don’t know about cute, but DEFINITELY awkward! I hate other people taking my photo. Especially in front of other people I don’t know! I haven’t had enough practice. Must take more outfit photos! ;)
