Life at 41 Weeks Pregnant

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to make a “Life at 41 Weeks Pregnant” post, but here I am! Yes, that’s right. D-day has been & gone and I am still very much with child in my tummy! He’s set up camp in there and isn’t budging for anyone – On Friday, I had the sweep I mentioned in my last post and it hasn’t done a thing, so that was an uncomfortable waste of time! I’ve tried a couple of the “natural” ways to induce labour, such as eating spicy food and going for long walks, but surprise surprise, they’ve done sweet FA! There must be something about my womb that he’s really enjoying. Perhaps he likes being all squished up?

Wednesday is my final midwife appointment at our local clinic, assuming the little blighter hasn’t made an appearance by then. We’ll be discussing booking me in for an induction at the hospital, which usually happens at 41 weeks & 5 days, which for me, is Sunday! So this time next week, I will at least be in labour. This is good news because we can be a bit more prepared and organised than you would be with spontaneous labour, but if the things I have read are true, the pain is going to come on thick & fast! Ouch. We probably won’t be able to use the birth centre if I’m induced, which means no cushy private room where my husband can stay, but if it means we get to finally meet our son, then so be it!

I was starting to think I was going to be pregnant forever! I don’t think I could stretch much more.
