My christmas was ace and all over in a flash! Lots of time with various family and friends, amazing food and the usual festivities. Myself and (mainly) my sister cooked the xmas dinner and the turkey was the best I’ve ever tasted! (Holding it’s legs open while my sister chucked lemons in, however, was not the highlight of my day.) I won’t bore you with photos and lists of my lovely presents, but they are on my Flickr Chrimbo set if you’re interested.

You may have noticed that things look a little different around here. It’s the effect that New Year has on me. New Year = change and the setting of unattainable goals! It was when I was in Year 6 at school, that we made dice out of yellow sheets of card, with a New Years Resolution on each side. My main one was to “stop biting my nails”, so the fact that I’m still doing it ten years later, does not bode well for this years collection of resolutions. (Still, I have made quite a few and I figure the more I make, the higher the chance of me actually sticking to at least one of them.)

  • #001 Save money. All of my ingoings soon become outgoings on shopping trips.
  • #002 Live ethically and be a better person. Now, I’m not becoming a tree-hugger or anything, but I do think there are small changes that I could make in my life, that could have a positive effect on the environment and people. I’m going to charity shop more (which will help me with #001), buy Fairtrade where I can and buy only natural / handmade beauty products (hello, Lush.)
  • #003 Eat healthily, lose weight, excersize. This is obligatory every year, isn’t it?
  • #004 Keep my portfolio updated. I’m rubbish at updating regularly. This resolution can only really happen if I keep up #005 & #006….
  • #005 Photograph, photograph, photograph. As a photographer, I really haven’t done enough of this lately, despite a camera being in my bag at all times.
  • #006 Write. Freelance, voluntarily, for my own satisfaction. Anything. I love a good ramble and have enough empty notebooks to last me all year! I won’t be leaving the house without one.
  • #007 Get a new job. It’s hard job-hunting when you’re not too sure exactly what you want to do, but I have to have a new job by the summer, or at the very least, the end of the year. It’s going nowhere and I don’t want to receive that ‘Sainsburys 5 years’ badge.
  • #008 Learn a language. I don’t know why, but I have this urge to learn Polish, completely out of nowhere. I’m going to learn some British Sign Language too.
  • #009 Party! There hasn’t been enough of this. I need to keep in touch with people.

It’s quite possible that I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I don’t do things by half. Here’s to 2008!
