Last night, myself & a handful of other bloggers & one of their lucky readers, went to the JoY Store at Bankside, London, to launch the Go Find It treasure hunt in association with Ford, to help raise awareness around the activities of the launch of the new (gorgeous!) Ford KA. It was full of fun, laughter, food, drink & shopping! Here’s what happened…
4.30pm Kate gets to my humble abode. We sip tea, eat homemade pink & blue cupcakes, courtesy of moi & talk about life, blogging, bloggers (who we secretly love & loathe!) & everything in between. She notices how pink things are scattered everywhere around the flat & I confess that pinkness is slowly infiltrating my poor boyfriend’s life!
6:40pm Get on the train. 10 mins later, we briskly walk for our connecting train. We think we’ve missed it, but we’re saved by a man who’s brave enough to run & press the button to open the doors. Thank you, big, sweaty man!
7:15pm Arrive at London Bridge & hazily head for the Tate Modern. We talk to a homeless guy & walk along cobbled streets. We soon realise we need to be the other side of the building. Cut through what appears to be a staff entrance only slip-through at the Tate, but we go for it anyway— & it’s a good thing we did, because we see the Blue Fin Building, home to IPC Media— we’re so close now!
7:40pm We find our destination. We’re outside the JoY Store. Er, we appear to still be walking though. We stop. We’re 10 minutes late. It looks like the bloggers are listening intently & we’re going to interrupt if we barge in. I make Kate go first.

7:45pm A lovely guy opens the door for us, no questions asked & we give our apologies. There’s a sigh of relief as we realise we’re not interrupting anything but mingling! We meet Violette (who contacted me about the event), the photographer Camille & I spot Harriet & Sherin who I met at the UKLB meet up!
7:50pm We’re shown where the champagne is. We sip it. It is good.
7:55pm Oh & there are cute little cupcakes too, with mini, edible Ford KA’s on them! (Thank you Lola’s Kitchen!)
8.00pm Violette gathers all the bloggers & their readers & explains about the launch & our treasure hunt. We’re amazed to find that there’s a miniature Ford KA hidden around the store for each of us, worth £60 each. Aah! The hunt begins & I’ve still got half a glass of champagne in my hand. I need rid, if I’m to search this store without destroying it! Kate exclaims, “You’re from Croydon. Just down it!” And so, I do. Classy. (And Camille manages to sneakily capture a photo of it!)

8:10pm Every now & again there are little screams as people find a KA! After a while, it would appear like everyone has theirs, but me. Rumour is, Claire found two, so eventually I find her & ask her where she’s hidden the second one. She tells me, I find it & all is well in the world again!

8:15pm We start our shopping & there’s just so much to choose from! Do I go for trinkets, jewellery, home accessories, bags, shoes or clothes?! Argh. Eventually, I settle on the sweetie ring, the gorgeous heart locket bag (the display one was the last on there, but the guy behind the counter told me to “just take it! I love it, take it!”), a funky pink cassette purse, rubber monkey key covers (as I’m genuinely getting confused with the amount of keys I have to have to get in my flat!), a big gold letter A & a sparkly blue nail file to bring me to exactly £60!

8:40pm Myself & Kate have our ‘purchases’ in hand & we’re happy. Violette sneakily tells us that there’s another KA hidden somewhere & me & Kate are on it, before hoards of other people find out about it! We agree to split it if we find it & seconds later, Kate has it in her hand! We earn another £30 voucher each.
9.00pm We’re on our way to the station with Sherin, all of us feeling gleeful, delighted & joyous! Our purses are just as empty as they were when we arrived, our bellies are full of cake & champagne & our hands are full of new, free things & there are smiles on our faces!

Looks like you had heaps of fun! JoY is one of my fav stores!
It was amazing! & yes, I love Joy too– even if I don’t buy anything, it’s one of those places that I love looking at, with all the amazing lights & posters & walls & stuff!

I’m sure your event will be fun too! We didn’t really know too much about what was going to happen before we got there, so sometimes it’s a good thing, as you don’t get your hopes up & then you receive a pleasant surprise! I’d love to go to a beauty event.
ahh i always miss out on these london based events :( also, my two local joy stores have now closed down, damn!
I’m sure other events happen around the country, but maybe it takes a bit more to find out about them / someone to find you. But ugh, how annoying is that about your locals closing?! Eek. Get yourself to London, lady! ;)
