Oh, you’re buried under 25cm of snow? I see!

For commuters it’s a bitch, but for children it’s amazing & a once-in-a-lifetime moment of complete euphoria– & I think you should embrace your inner-child for a day or two! Britain is currently covered in snow & London has come to a complete standstill. If like me, you’re one of the 1 in 5 people in the Big Smoke that have been forced to take the day off, then let your hair down & have some fun!

Reasons to love snow:
Hearing the satisfying crunch of virgin snow under your boots & making your mark on the big white blanket.
Snow angels & snowmen & obligatory snowball fights! & if you’re feeling adventurous, think outside the box– try & make snow cows, snow pigs, snow elephants & anything else you might want to re-create.
Sledding– it’s not just for kids! If you don’t have one, improvise with a tray or a large sheet of plastic, or even an old wooden door & climb to the top of your nearest hill & watch the world go by as you slide down.
Lets face it, you’re not going to be driving anywhere tonight, so have a glass of wine or two with your friends & neighbours. Don’t worry about chilling beer or your fav white wine in advance, just chuck it outside!
If you’re not the outdoors type, stay inside & curl up with a big cup of hot chocolate with cream on top & some homemade cookies, in front of a roaring fire. Yum!
Photograph, photograph, photograph. Sure, everyone’s doing this & about 65% of my Facebook friends have already made obligatory Snow Day photo albums, but join in the fun! Photograph your friends & family, & get up close & personal with nature! Now is the perfect time for detailed shots of icicles & melting snow & flakes on trees. If you live in an area that’s usually jam-packed with cars, take this opportunity to photograph it while it’s desolate.
Catch up– write that email you’ve meaning to reply to, tidy up that mess & make that phonecall!
Create a masterpiece work of art with food colouring. Just add a few drops to some warm water in a spray bottle & getting working on that blank canvas.
Build an igloo or a fort!

Whatever you do in the snow, have fun & stay safe!

I can think of a few people who could make snow cows just by lying down and waving their arms…
