Byron has come on leaps and bounds over the last fortnight. From his fancy foot work just under a month ago, he can now sit himself up, crawl AND pull himself to standing! It feels like he’s gone from rolling to simply doing everything, over night. Luckily he’s not crawling for the fun of it just yet and will only stomp his way towards a toy or Apple product (good lad), but that doesn’t lessen my need for eyes to be in the back of my head and have the ability to look ’round corners! I had the fright of my life when I saw him standing in his cot a few days ago, staring at the floor. Gulp. It’s only a matter of time before he’s cruising the furniture! Helmet and knee-pads at the ready.
I can’t believe that little pudding is going to be a whole year old in a months time! We’re making plans for a little afternoon tea party and I’ve signed myself up to make the birthday cake. I know every parent says it and people warn you, but there’s nothing that anybody can say or do, that will prepare you for just how quick the first year goes! One minute, you’re fatigued, knee-deep in nappies and stuck in a rut of sterilising & feeding, and then suddenly you’re eating the same foods as each other, preparing for walking and all those other things you dreamed of that you thought were years away, are happening now. Things are a little more exciting now he’s more aware of what’s happening, can communicate better, he’s more mobile and even laughs with you, but still— Slow down, life!
We’re still on the hunt for a city break for a couple of nights— just me and my husband— in the next month or so. We’re going to stay in the UK, but haven’t decided where yet. If anyone has any recommendations (or even better blog posts / photos!) please let me know!
