Whaddup! Nuh-uh, your eyes are not deceiving you. I’ve managed to install WordPress! Yes, oh yes. It’s better than blogger & I have a few plans for this place. Change your links and bookmarks, people! /end geeky stuff.

I’ll leave you with some photos of my room. It’s every 5 yr old girls dream- tacky, bright, colourful & full of sparkly things! (Let’s forget that I’m actually 21 on Sunday.)

Andreas Laszlo Konrath
As a British born photographer, now living in Brooklyn, Konrath takes amazing and often emotional portraits of youth related activities and the people that surround him everyday. I’m not usually a fan of black and white (his main medium), but these portraits are really successful. This photo (left) is taken from his series, “English Kills”.

Amy Illustration
This girl creates seriously cute images, reminiscent of childhood scribbles. Nothing looks quite as it should- the humans aren’t quite human-looking, with their big noses and distorted limbs, but the animals have been personified, drinking cups of tea and eating hot-dogs! Love it.

Matt Stuart
This guy has the best natural eye for the hilarious. There are no words to explain these photos, just have a look for yourself!

Moon-Jazz
Lens based artist Leah, is curious about identity, history and theatre. Her photos are dream-like, obscure and leave you pondering the people, situations and ideas behind them. Her photography primarily reflects her own identity, tather than the subject, but that’s what makes them so fabulous.

Love Fots
The blog of a girl that I don’t know too much about, but I do know that I love this blog. She writes about anything, from photography to personal shout outs, to dodgy tattoos!

Wants For Sale
This is one of those amazing concepts, that when you come across if, you kick yourself, wondering “Why didn’t I think of that?!” This couple paint simple pictures of things that they want, sell them for the price of the real item, then use the money to go out and buy that thing! So far they’ve painted a picture of an iPhone and sold it for $432.42 to buy the real thing, a beer, a bikini, steak and many many many more, along with picture evidence of each purchase! You can currently get your mitts on a photo of some Mets tickets for them for a mere $597.50(!), or my personal favourite, “Charles Saatchi to buy this painting” for instant street cred (left). Hopefully he will!

Inner City Snail
If you ever see a snail with a painted shell in London, it’s probably down to these guys. This is a street art project with a twist. They paint slogans or stick mini-signs on their shells, take a photo & leave them to roam the streets. That’s pretty much it. It’s simple, but funny to look at! These guys also do some other macro-style photography with miniatures. You can find the link on their blog.

On My Desk
This is like porn for the interior design geek. Here, creative people share their deskpace with the world wide web. A fantastic source of inspiration!

Dad’s are notoriously hard to buy for, aren’t they? It’s Fathers Day this Sunday in the UK and if you haven’t got your gift ready yet, you may be royally screwed. However, if you’ve got an extra few days after the big day before you see your Papa, try ordering one of these (next day delivery, mind!)

1. For the wine connoisseur… grab this Rouge O2 Stainless Steel wine breather (£22.95 at IWOOT.com), that’s been approved by the Wine Industry. It gently bubbles air through the wine, so you can taste the full bouquet in a minute, rather than an hour!
2. For the music lover… there’s this fab Instant Music Vinyl & Cassette Ripper (£39.95 at IWOOT.com). Get him to dust off those old records and convert them to MP3!
3. For the alpha male… This has to be my favourite man-gadget of all time, as it’s suitable for dads, boyfriends, uncles and men alike. The Grillslinger (£49.99 at IWOOT.com) is a tool belt for the BBQ, suitable for every man (because let’s face it, he thinks that by charring a few burgers, he’s now an award-winning chef). There’s a place for every utensil and they’ll even chuck some in for you too!
4. For the adventurer… take him bungee jumping! (£49 at IWOOT.com)
5. For the adrenaline junkie… take him on a high speed Rally Drive! (£49 at IWOOT.com)
6. For the business man… grab this Wifi Watch (£19.99 at IWOOT.com). He can hunt down a wifi connection anywhere and will never miss a deadline again.
7. For the couch potato… invest in the classic british comedy, Only Fools and Horses (Series 1-7 boxset), to keep him quiet and entertained for hours! (£43.97 at amazon.co.uk)
8. & 9. & 10. For the metrosexual… get the men-u Ultimate Shave Facial Kit (£33.95 at ASOS.com, product code FBGTO132242), containing a facial moisturiser lift, healthy facial wash, shave cream and a shaving brush and stand. If fragrances are more his thing, YSL Pour Homme is a classic scent (reduced from £43 to £30 at ASOS.com, product code NBGFR305752), that’s completely timeless. And last but not least, if haircare is for him, buy this showerproof Vidal Sassoon Palm Clipper, to keep his locks in good shape (£30 at ASOS.com, product code MBGAC262145).

Happy shopping!

paraskavedekatriaphobia; a fear of Friday 13th.

I’ve been gently reminded that today is that day. Previously, it would have put a slight dampener on my day and anything that goes wrong, I would have blamed on the date. However, after watching this clip of Derren Brown and a superstitious girl, I’m inclined to shake off my phobia and carry on as normal. After all, the sun is shining today and that’s always a good thing!

I also don’t walk on three drains (bad luck) but I’ll walk on two (good luck), which is bizarre. I don’t even think about it anymore, it’s just embedded in my mind. There are some even more bizarre ones out there though- A bird pooing on your head is good luck. Apparently. (I’m not sure luck is the first thing that I’d think of, but it certainly rhymes with it.)

What superstitions do you follow?
