I think Urban Outfitters, Firebox, I Want One of Those and good old Amazon are the best online shops for Christmas gifts this year (plus there are always a few promotional codes floating around, including ‘UOX20′ for 20% off or ‘FREESHIP’ for free shipping at Urban Outfitters and ‘HSBC15′ for 15% off at I Want One of Those, to save a few pennies and keep your purse happy).
However, if you’re as impatient as me and don’t want to wait around for your items to be delivered, head down to Carnaby Street tomorrow and get 20% off at 100s of shops and bars, by registering here. Even if you’re a whizz-kid and have done all your shopping already, just head down for the fantastic atmosphere, eco-friendly decorations or hint at all the fab things you’d like for this year, to a loved one!
For those of you who are relying on Santa for all your Christmas gifts, he’s got all technological on us and now you can email him, plus read some emails from kids (and immature adults, with too much time on their hands) that have already been sent.
Here are some of my favs:
- “PLEASE HELP CHILDREN IN OTHER COUNTRIES WITH MEDICINES AND CLEAN WATER.”
- “Last year you didnt finish the cookies. i bet you didnt know i made them myself. maybe next time you could leave room for them?”
- “Have you seen the movie “The Santa Claus”? It might be embarassing to you. You’d like the sleigh.”
- “Would you like to go on a diet? call bally total fitness today for only 10 cookies and $19.95!”
Although the authenticity is questionable. Do 15 year olds really believe in Santa, still?
And finally, the things on my Christmas list this year are:
- Lomography Holga Camera
- Lomo photo clips
- A years subscription to ELLE magazine
- Shrek the 3rd
- “Writers block: Ideas to jump start your imagination”
- A name necklace
- Surprises!
I definitely don’t need any perfume this year. I’ve accumulated 9 bottles.

…fah la la la la, la la la la.
I’m feeling festive. Myself and my sister took my mum to see Christmas with the Rat Pack on Sunday night for her birthday, which was surprisingly fantastic. I didn’t think it would really be my thing at all, but it definitely puts you in the mood for Christmas, so go and see it if you can. I’ve never seen or heard anyone who sounds so much like Frank Sinatra! (I am actually convinced it was him.)
I’m itching to put up the Christmas decs now, even though it’s ridiculously early. I’m really excited about Christmas this year. I think it’s because, shock horror, I’ve almost finished my Christmas shopping. I’m this close to it being done! I just need people to pay me the money I’m owed and then I can put all the finishing touches to presents. This means that my final pay cheque before the big day can be spent on yours truly and Christmas festivities!
I don’t know how I’d survive winter without Christmas. There’d be nothing but dull, rainy days to look forward to! Right now, I’ve got the fire roaring, while I down numerous cups of tea and do some job-hunting.
I say job-hunting… Really, I’m just nosing around all the old blogs I used to visit, like pinkfairy.nu. Does anyone remember when everyone and his father had a domain name, named ‘pink’ something or other?

Today, I realised I’ve become one of those mad Londoners that are constantly in a rush, walking so fast to the tube station that they’re almost running. I even did it today on my lunch, when I was heading to Sainsburys. I had an hour to kill and could have taken a leisurely stroll, but instead I evolved into a monster, skipping over muddy puddles, walking across the road while the red man was still lit and generally glaring at anyone who got in my way. All for a tasty ham and mustard sandwich.
Slow walkers are annoying though, aren’t they? Yes, you might be enjoying life in the slow lane, but I have snacks to buy and sales to rummage through, thank you very much. They should introduce a fast lane, similar to that on the motorway. And maybe a hard shoulder, for those people who always seem to just stop, in front of me.
As you can see, winter brings out the best in my moaning potential. Don’t even get me started on the weather, fashion returns and uncouth PRs.

Right now, I’m thinking of putting this book, “The Writers Block”, on top of my list to Santa, simply because I’ve tried to write something hundreds of times over the last week, but to no avail! Talking of Santa, I saw 20 blokes dressed up as the old guy, sitting in a cafe on Tottenham Court Rd the other day. It was the highlight of my week (which shows just how exciting the rest of it has been!)
This week, I’ve mostly been working at Closer Mag and hating public transport, simultaneously. I’ve done so many fashion returns, cleared out hundreds and hundreds of beauty products for a massive beauty sale (and picked up £40 worth of bargains myself!) and called in products for the magazine. It’s been relatively fun, but I hate the fact that while you’re doing work experience, you will always be someones skivvy. I’m not here to open your post, (which you will have to read through anyway, you fool) or empty out-of-date milk, thank you very much.
Let’s hear it for Transport for London and the fact it takes me three hours to get south of the river! The London commute is a novelty at first. You think ‘Hey! I can sit on the train reading my copy of The London Lite and sipping my coffee from Caffe Nero, in a sophisticated manner’ or something equally pretentious, but after a while it wears thin. This week, I’ve had more than my fair share of train delays, violent hits of Business Man B.O. and people falling asleep, snoring and slowly falling towards my shoulder. The only way I seem to be able to block this out, is to indulge in some magazines and satisfy my need for pop music by listening to Now 67 on repeat. Today I bought Amelia’s magazine which is fantastic, but a bit pricey at £10 from Borders, as well as Lula and some other select celeb mags.
I never know what to do with my old issues of magazines. I’ve got bundles of Elle, Pop and Vogue sitting on my shelf in my bedroom, that I can’t bare to throw away, but haven’t looked at in months (and probably won’t ever open again, in the forseeable future) but I can’t let go. I’m a complete hoarder. Always have been and always will be I expect, as my shoe, clothes and bag collection will testify!
Woe is me, with all my accessories! Woe is me.

This is the first morning in years that I’ve been ready for work, or infact anywhere, with time to spare before I have to leave. Score! However, I’m only two days into my 16-days-of-solid-work stint, and I’m feeling it already. Work experience should be good though, and I’m unexplainably excited about future job prospects. Finally, I might be able to leave my retail job after 4 and a half years!
I really, really loathe the Iceland adverts. Go away.

I’ve nabbed Nik‘s ‘favourite things’ idea. But first, Celine Dion. Get off my TV.
- ‘Borrowing’ someone elses wireless internet connection.
- Midnight trips to Tesco.
- Looong summer days.
- Head massages at the hairdressers, when they wash your hair.
- Dave (freeview channel 19, not some bloke)
- Spending all day in my pyjamas.
- Perfectly toasted buttery sesame seed bagels.
- Big mugs.
- Mid-season sales. A completely random time for some bargain-hunting? Get in!
- Bright, saturated photos.
- Wicked nights out, when you’d just planned for a few quiet drinks.
Er, Chaka Khan needs to give up. I think she just forgot the words to her own song, and tried to cover it up with some high-pitched squealing reminiscent of a cat. Go home, Chaka.

I’ve spent the weekend indulging in leftover (apparently German) Haribo from Halloween and curries that will blow your face off, in my PJs with the boy. Now he’s gone out, and I’m as bored as someone who’s really bored. I didn’t get a chance to organise anything to do myself and Sunday TV is soul destroying, listening to people complain about illegal dance moves on Strictly Come Dancing and the return of Ricky and Bianca on Eastenders (hello? can’t wait for this).
I think some kind of pervert rang my house last night.
Me: Hello?
Freaky Man: (whispering) Hellllooo. Did you get home ok?
Me: Er, who is this?
FM: John
Me: I think you’ve got the wrong number
FM: Oh, isn’t this Christine?…
Me: …no.
FM: Oh. I’m sorry. Did I wake your other half?
Me: Er, no.
FM: Oh. You sound very nice…
And I promptly hung up on the tosser.
I’m going to do something productive before Songs of Praise comes on, and I actually die of pure boredom.

I’m peeling spuds. All this fending for yourself malarky is hard biz.
I’ve got 7 days off work now, so I’m going to get stuck into a few projects! After that I’m working for 16 days straight, with no day off, so I’m more than likely going to collapse shortly after. Leah and Vikki have kindly added there testimonials at aimeemarie.com. Thanks ladies!
RIP Vitek of Decapitated.
