Sometimes, I find myself sitting in my work uniform when I get home and it never feels like the day has actually ended. I veg out in front of the TV and then I realise if I did this every night, life would pass me by quicker than you can say ‘procrastination’! I’m not saying I want to come home and work, work, work, but it’s important to do something with your spare time, isn’t it? If there’s one thing better than finishing work for the day, it’s coming home from work AND pampering yourself into complete relaxation and tranquility, with a few little, simple treats and feeling like you’ve accomplished something too (no matter how small.) Bliss! So, put your feet up and let the unwinding begin…

Get organised. Work, unfortunately, doesn’t always end at your front door. If you’re anything like me, you won’t be able to fully de-stress if you know there’s a pile of washing up waiting to sparkle, or the floor needs vacuuming, or something equally tedious. It’s tempting to kick off your shoes and just relax straight away, but spend just 10 minutes doing something, whether it’s sorting out your finances, putting a load of washing on, or putting your clothes away. A little weight will be lifted off your shoulders instantly!

Shower. Wash the day away! You will feel so much better.

Feet. If you haven’t got one already, invest in a foot spa. They’re lush. You can always make do with your own DIY attempt though— fill an old washing up bowl up with bubbles and hot water, and feel the tension rushing out of your body! Finish up with a foot scrub and massage a scrumptious body butter into your toots! Yum. Make sure you pay extra attention to your aching muscles and dry skin.

Nails. There’s no better quick pick-me-up than a mani-pedi! File your nails and paint them your fav refreshing shade. Don’t forget your (now lovely and soft) toes either! It might be miserable weather (in England at least), but who knows when you might have to crack out the sandals next!

Music. Put on some soothing music and lay down for a while. Alternatively, put on the heaviest tunes you can find and rock-the-fuck-out! Whatever floats your boat.

Books. Reading is really important, but something I rarely find the time to indulge in. Now is the perfect time to kick back and relax with a trashy book. Whatever genre, it has to be exciting— it doesn’t count as fun if you’re reading something related to your job or studies!

Hobbies. Do whatever it is you enjoy— photography; baking; blogging; composing music; riding your bike; craft; knitting; hacking up old clothes into new; whatever it is, get stuck in.

Friends. Contact that friend that you’ve been meaning to speak to for ages, whether it’s face-to-face, over the phone or via email. Catch-up!

What do you do to unwind after a long day?

We’re still in the very, very early stages of planning our wedding, but right from the beginning, I knew that choosing someone to capture our day with their camera would be harder than finding the perfect venue, caterer or even the perfect dress.  Why?  Because being a documentary photographer myself, I know exactly what I want, which is great for when I communicate my ideas to our photographer, but also a curse if I can’t find anyone who meets my expectations!  It’s important for anyone’s wedding photographer to be perfect, but I think if you’re an image-maker yourself, then they’ve really got to be something special & go the extra mile.

Luckily for me (and you!), I think these two ladies are the crème de la crème of the wedding world.  I actually intended to include at least three wedding photographers in this article, but I just couldn’t find any others that met my needs, that were based in the UK! I’m sure they’re out there, but where? I know plenty of other amazing photographers, but whether they will venture into the realms of weddings, is another thing, so I thought it best not to include them just yet. These two are different, but absolute gems & I hope that when it comes to finalising the date & venue, one of these talented folk will be available, as they’re on my wavelength— there won’t be any thoughts of ‘I wouldn’t have done it like that’, because these girls get it right every time & I’m in complete awe of their work.

Eleanor Jane Weddings
I’ve been a fan of Eleanor Jane for as long as I can remember, so when I found out (this morning!) that she’s a dedicated wedding photographer, as well as having an extensive background in photographic art, I had a bit of ‘eureka!’ moment. It’s really important that your photographer loves the same details about your wedding as you do, or else they might miss out all the little things that make it ‘yours’. If your day’s going to be ‘handmade, relaxed, informal, friendly, vintage, artistic’ then Eleanor Jane’s your girl. She’s a modern girl who breaks tradition and takes unobtrusive, quirky & beautifully colourful & detailed photos of your day, and I’m literally so excited that this photogirl is now documenting weddings. There’s something quite ethereal about her work, that I can’t put into words. Check out her wedding website as well as her her portfolio and blog!

Marianne Taylor Photography
Marianne Taylor produces beautiful, crisp, clean & clear photos. She has an amazing eye for detail & never fails to capture a smile, conversation or a quiet moment that it seems no one else has seen. Marianne says, “My philosophy in life is that there is beauty to be found in everything and everyone”— & never has a truer word been said! Her photos are so bright, airy & dream-like and her passion for photography, as well as skill, shows in all her work. The colours are consistently bold & beautiful and I love the ideas she has for pre-wedding, engagement shoots as well the moments that are documented on the big day itself. Marianne Taylor Photography screams fun!

Of course, as wonderful as these girls are, how am I meant to choose between the two?! Uh-oh. This might be a bit more of a challenge than I thought!

I know, I know— we’ve all heard it a million times already this decade, but this really is a great opportunity to start a fresh!  (Yeah, I’m still on a big ‘new year, new you’ kick.) If you haven’t already thought about setting goals, it’s never too late & I urge you to do it! It’ll give you some direction & help you make your life as sparkly & amazing as you dream it could be!

Cleanse
Have you still got your Christmas decs up? Empty boxes from your Chrimbo presents scattered on the floor? Draft blog posts unfinished? You can’t start a fresh if you’re still living in 2009! Stop dwelling on the past, pull your finger out & have a tidy up. Trust me, you will feel so much better after it. If you’re feeling really motivated, you could not only tidy up, but clear out— your wardrobe, make up, paper, CDs & DVDs, & anything else that’s cluttering up your life. Read this article I wrote in December 2008(!) for some tips.

And the same goes for people. If there are individuals in your life that you feel are holding you pack, putting down & generally making your life a misery, then cut them out. Either completely (delete them from your phone, Facebook & any other kind of contact you have with them), see them less frequently or have it out with them— tell them what they’re doing & how it makes you feel. Perhaps they don’t even realise they’re doing it.

Focus
Once all the chaos around you has been sorted out, you can zero in on what it is you want to change or improve. Have a really good think about this one! Sure, if you stop biting your nails, they’ll look lovely by the end of the year, but is it really going to have a big impact on your life? Dwell on one or two things that could really ameliorate your being— perhaps a new job, or a new home? Increase traffic to your website? Make them challenging enough that they’re not undemanding, but remember they must be achievable too. And of course, they don’t have to be dull— resolutions aren’t there to make your life boring or stressful! They should be fun, exciting & magical. Pressing. Stimulating. Invigorating. Intoxicating!

Deliver
It’s so easy to lose sight of your goals once they’ve been set. The key to success, is setting yourself small steps to reach your aim— for example, if you want to move out this year, strive to view potential properties by the end of February. Chip away at it & you’ll get there! I find it a lot easier to write my goals down in my Moleskine, as it’s somewhere I look every day, but if you don’t use a journal, decorate your living space with post-it notes, write on your calendar or use an application on your phone.

So what are you waiting for?!

If you’ve set goals this year, what are they? And if not, why not?

I’m a bit of a girly-girl who enjoys make-up, cosmetics & everything under the beauty umbrella. I love creating new looks with colours, textures & embellishments, as you can tell, so the thought of going out with absolutely no make-up on at all, horrifies me! I’m not blessed with beautiful clear skin & my uneven skin tone often leaves a lot to be desired, so I always wear some kind of cover up, whether its concealer, foundation, powder or all of the above!.

However, sometimes needs must. With my recent promotion at work (hence the lack of blogging!) I’ve been working more hours & getting up earlier than any human should. 4:30am is a time where we should all be sleeping, safe & sound, not putting on a face full of make-up! And so, one morning I just didn’t. I washed my face, dried it off & didn’t look in the mirror. I went to work for 8hrs & didn’t feel any more or less confident than any other day.

This was a huge revelation for me! I probably won’t stop wearing cosmetics for years to come, as it can really be beautiful if you know how to apply it & it can completely transform you (plus, we all have bad days!), but it’s nice to know that I don’t need to turn down invites if I’ve not put anything on yet (it has been known!) or have an extra 20 minutes in bed!

How do you feel about make-up? Are you a slave to foundation, bronzer & eyeliner, or is a quick slick of mascara enough for you?

The idea that someone would choose to wear something they don’t even like, completely baffles me. I’m not saying we’re not all influenced by current fashion trends, whether they’re all over the high street, the catwalks, or being adorned by your favourite blogger, because of course we all are— just yesterday, I bought a boyfriend-fit blazer. But I bought it because I genuinely liked it, not because other people were wearing it— the fact they were exhibiting it, simply bought it to my attention. Next season when it’s declared ‘out’ by someone who believes they can dictate peoples wardrobes, I’ll still be wearing it!

However, Kim‘s comments on my last post, astonished me— do people really not wear what they want to wear, in their own time?! I’m not talking about at school or work, where there may be some kind of uniform or restrictions, but at the weekend, evening or any other time that you would call your own.

I asked the Twitterverse if they wore what they truly wanted & here’s just some of the responses I received:

Midorigreen— “I guess most people don’t wear exactly what they want because they’re influenced by other people and available clothing.”

Vixel & Leia— “I wear what I like as far as the weather and physical comfort will allow me to!”

Kate— “ahaha I don’t because everything I want to wear is always in the washing basket.”

Perhaps it has something to do with shopping on my own, but I always wear what I want & I love it. It may not always be the most creative or outlandish of outfits & there may be key pieces from current trends, but I’ve chosen them because I like them. (And there are plenty that I don’t— broderie anglais, brogues, fringing & harem pants to name but a few!)

No one has to an ‘individual’— a truly unique person is so hard to come by these days! But I think everyone should enjoy & love what they wear! Whether it’s carbon-copy of something you’ve seen on your fav celeb, or on the catwalk, or if it’s your very own creation— lap it up & luxuriate & relish in it’s glory!

Fashion Week, I loathe you. You’re clogging up my Google Reader!

If like me, high-end fashion is not your thing, think of your favourite things & turn it into your very own Week! These are some of my favs:

Cupcake Week— that was actually 14th-19th September, but cupcakes should be appreciated all the time, so I say extend it & bake away! Devour the prettiest, brightest cupcakes, every day! Yum. Calories, shmalories.

Pretty In Pink Week— wear it, make it, bake it, eat it, paint it, create it, knit it, sew it, draw with it, look at it, like it, love it!

Glitter Appreciation Week— you can never have too much glitter and/or sequins! Wear it every day, with pride.

Slumber Party Week— whack out the PJ’s, grab your friends, turn up the stereo & party all week, in the best possible way— with midnight feasts, movies, popcorn & girly chats!

Gig Week— see a different band / artist from a completely different genre than you’re used to listening to, every day of the week. Open up your horizons! Or, follow a band on tour for the week. Make posters & banners. Get yourself known! (Obviously, this isn’t so viable if you’re going to a death metal show.)

Vlogging Week— if you’ve never made one before, now is the time to start documenting your life in video!

YouTube Beauty Tutorials Week— follow your fav artists & recreate one of their looks each day.

You can have a National Week, for absolutely anything. What would you choose?

I’m a homely girl. I love to bake, knit, photograph, cook & flit around my flat. I absolutely love to party like most people, but I prefer to be socialising at someones house or in a pub where we can actually talk. I don’t smoke or do drugs, despite the fact they’d be readily available for me if I wanted them. We all (certainly in this country, anyway) seem to be tarred with the same brush. But not all young people are the same. Fair enough if you want to live your life that way & genuinely enjoy it— who am I to judge? But I think it’s important to step back now & again & ask yourself if you’re really having a good time or you’re just going with the majority. If you’re not, you need to have the willpower to say ‘no’.

I recently turned down the opportunity to go to Zante with my girlfriends for a week, because I knew I wouldn’t have a good time. I’m not adverse to a little skiing & I love my city-breaks, but for me, the perfect holiday conjures up magical images of blue skies & a calm aqua-coloured sparkling sea, feeling the hot sand beneath your feet on uncrowded beaches, glorious sunshine beating down on your back, hot weather & big fresh swimming pools to cool off in, relaxation with a book, magazine or awesome playlist while sunbathing poolside, dining out in the evening, boat trips to forgotten islands & untouched, little love-nest-like beaches, amazing barbecues, a little culture, sight-seeing & photo-opportunities, experiencing local markets, local people & local traditions, new exciting foods & drinks and having an amazing time, doing & seeing things that you wouldn’t at home— a ‘holiday’ is not getting legless in a bar, getting with randoms, being sick & finding yourself / your friends in hospital, living off of rations for a week, hangovers & chilling with a bunch of chavs. (If I wanted this, I’d stay at home. And it’d be cheaper.) I’ll never buy into this club 18-30s / Zante / Magaluf / Ibiza phenomenon!

I know what I like & I like what I know. In recent years I’ve taken myself out of the pigeon-hole that everyone else put me in & I’m genuinely a happier person. Here’s a few tips on how you can balance your exuberance & exhilaration too!

Attire— are you comfortable in that? Do you like the way it looks? Do you feel like you? If you’re happier in Primark than Prada, then whack out that credit card on the local high street! People try so hard to be ‘individual’, but there’s no point striving to be unique if you’re unhappy. (And plus, all those ‘individuals’ end up looking the same at some point anyway, which totally defeats their objective!)

Socialising— if you don’t want to go out clubbing every single week, then don’t. There will always be someone feeling the same way that you do, so mention it to your mates & see if a couple of you can do something a bit more low-key instead! There’s always bars, pubs, restaurants & friends houses as an alternative. All the unplanned nights in, end up being the best ones anyway, don’t they?

Activities— like knitting? Then knit. Wanna bake cupcakes? Bake. Wanna write a book? Write. Wanna go to that blogger convention? Go. Sometimes it’s just that simple.

Reading, Leeds, Download, V & Glastonbury— all amazing British music festivals.
All will leave you feeling slightly less glamourous & smelling more off-key, than when you arrived.

Whether it’s camping at a festival, pitching your tent for a weekend away with your other half or staying in the middle of nowhere for a girly getaway, you’ll need to travel light & pack items that are versatile.

Is camping for me?

I’m not going to lie to you. If you’re at a festival, someone will try & pee on / poo on / burn / jump on / sleep on [delete as applicable] your tent. Nobody knows why— perhaps it’s a mix of the buzz of live music, sweat, dirt, cheap alcohol & freely available hallucinogenics, that induces people into marking their territory with their scent. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about it either apart from scream, holla & yell at the perpetrator, in their act!

So if you’re a girly girl who doesn’t like to rough it (not that anyone who does, would enjoy their temporary home being doused in urine) & would rather gauge your eyes out, than not shower for three days & sleep on a ground sheet, then maybe the camping option isn’t for you! If you book early, you can find a hotel near your chosen festival with all the luxuries of home (ah, running water) or even rent a camper van or caravan if you still want to be in the thick of it on the campsite, but would rather your house didn’t blow away, with a sudden gust of wind.

Safety first (or in this case, second)

Book your tickets early & from a reputable seller. There are a lot of dishonest people out there (not just on eBay!) that will try to scam as many as people as possible, out of their hard earned money. Beware of touts outside campsites selling dodgy tickets, too. This thread on a Reading Festival forum has lots of hints & tips (that can be applied to other festivals too) about making your booking, including a list of approved ticket sellers & other great ideas, such as notifying your bank that you’ll be spending a large sum of money (especially useful if you’re buying more than one ticket!), so they don’t block your card or decline the transaction, thinking it’s something suspicious. If money isn’t on your side, then save money & guarantee your ticket by working for it. A lot of charities like Oxfam approach students to be volunteer stewards. Sorted!

Don’t bring any valuables with you, if you can help it. The majority of your belongings are going to be left in your tent, so if there’s something you don’t want to lose or get broken, leave it at home! Keep your money & phone on you at all times.

Getting there

When it comes to making your way to your campsite, make sure you leave in plenty of time, whether you’re driving or you’ve booked train tickets, as the traffic will be horrendous & missing out on valuable festival time is not an option! Be nice to the environment & car share with people– chances are if everyone did this, there’d be less traffic & you’d get there a whole lot quicker! Sell off spaces in your car for petrol money.

Pitching Up

DO ensure you know how to pitch & dismantle your tent before you arrive
DON’T pitch your tent too near the toilets– they will flood & smell like something you’ve never smelt before!
DO make sure you’re in walking distance of them though!
DON’T stay right in the middle of a campsite– running through other peoples campfires & mud & puddles just to get to a toilet / stage / food place, is not fun, particularly if you’re in a rush!
DON’T put your tent right on the edge of a path either– in a drunken state, people will mistake it for a bed / toilet / something worse & the temptation to destroy it in some way will be too much!
DO bring a lilo or an airbed to sleep on for extra comfort & to stop moisture from the ground seeping into your sleeping bag!

Fashion

As much as we could argue that your weekend away is all about the music, it’s just as much about peoples eclectic style too. Life is one big blank canvas, so make it look good & flaunt it! Ultimately, you should wear what the hell you want, any time, any day, any place. Just remember that festival-wear should be versatile & multi-purpose, so you don’t have to pack your whole wardrobe! I love:

Think light cottons; multiple layers; knee high socks; waterproof boots; sunglasses; scarves for warmth (& sitting on!); a hat to cover up unwashed hair & the sun out of your peepers; shorts; vests; cardigans; small across-the-body bags that you don’t have to carry.

Health, Beauty & Hygiene

This is what puts most people off festivals, isn’t it? They love the part scene but, understandably, don’t love the lack of hygiene! There are now hot showers at most festivals, but the queues are just not worth it. Do your research beforehand & see if any local leisure centres are opening their doors to festival go-ers to use their facilities. It’ll be worth the walk! If not, you can always use one of the taps that are dotted around, but beware other people will have the same idea & the water is freezing!

Ensure your backpack contains:

+ babywipes– can be used to remove make-up, wipe dirty hands, freshen your face, armpits, moistening legs for shaving & a whole host of things!
+ toothpaste– there’s nothing better than fresh breath to wake you up & feeling clean again! Look out for travel-size tubes. (See gotiny.co.uk.)
+ Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap now this is a multipurpose product if I ever saw one! Dr B’s soap can be used for body-washing & your face, dishes & even laundry! Super.
+ deodorant– need I say more?
+ razor– hairy bits = no!
+ moisturiser with SPF– now is not the time to be getting burnt!
+ toilet roll– remember to take this with you when you visit the portaloo!
+ dry shampoo– this will only work for a few days, so remember a scarf or hat to hide greasy hair!
+ mini first aid kit– plasters, paracetemol & anti-histamines. Better to be safe than sorry!

As for cosmetics, you really won’t want to wear much at all, particularly if it’s hot & sweaty, so just invest in concealer, waterproof mascara & eyeliner & a bit of bronzer or blusher, if you really can’t bare being bare-faced!

Food & Drink

Take as many long-life dry groceries with you as you can, such as tins of soup, beans, fruit, instant noodles, biscuits, crisps, crackers & anything else you desire. Hot food such as chips, hot dogs & burgers will be available too, but many stalls are overpriced. Don’t forget to bring bottled water for hydration, as well as cooking (invest in a portable stove for boiling water & heating food) & rinsing your mouth after brushing your teeth!

If you intend on drinking, bring as much alcohol with you as possible to save money! Often, you’re not allowed to bring bottles into the actual arena / stage area, (but drinks are available for purchase, in some lovely plastic tumblers!) so be aware that you’ll have to leave it in your tent, where it could go missing.

Ultimately you should go out, be happy, make new friends, listen to amazing music & HAVE FUN !

Let’s set the scene: your exams are in a few weeks; you haven’t started revising; you don’t have a revision plan; you’re nervous! But don’t worry, all hope is not lost! Everyone feels that way about taking exams, but it’s important to remember that an exam is a test of learning, not memory– revision should be about gathering your understanding of a subject, not just cramming as much info as possible into your head, on the morning of the exam! But of course, last minute cramming can be helpful in some situations– I know it helped me pass some tests when I was at school!

Last Minute Tips

It’s recommended that you start revising at least 6 weeks before your exams, but if you don’t have enough time now, don’t worry about drawing up a revision plan / schedule. Try to follow these tips:

Make a least of your strengths & weaknesses in each subject & identify any gaps in your knowledge that need working on. A good way to do this, is to look at past test papers.
Alternate between subjects for a bit of variety e.g. two sessions of maths followed by a session of geography.
Don’t panic! Be positive & think about what you can achieve, rather than what you can’t.

How & Where To Study

Try to find a place with little distractions like food, tv, radio etc & keep background noise to a minimum.
Make sure you’re comfortable & have everything you need to hand.
Sit at a well-lit desk, rather than lounging on your sofa / bed.
Use post-it notes & index cards for bullet points & spidergrams.
Highlighters, coloured pens & paper make note-taking a lot more fun!
Keep yourself alert by changing between revision methods, like going from memorising to note-taking to reading.
Attend any extra revision classes that may be running in your school / college.
Make sure you have regular breaks to refresh yourself (although not too regular!) A 5 minute break every 45 minutes is better than a half an hour break every 4 hours. Look after yourself!

Dealing With Nerves

Think positive!
Check & double-check that you have all your tools (including any books you’re allowed to take in with you.)
If you’ve got to travel, make sure you leave in plenty of time & try & get their early so you have time to calm yourself down before entering the exam hall.
Eat & drink sensibly to keep your brain aler & drink plenty of water so you don’t become dehydrated,. Dehydration can lead to a lack of concentration.

In The Exam Hall

Look through the paper first & answer the hardest (or the one with the most marks) first.
Make sure you are actually answering the question! Don’t go off on a tangent.
Look how many marks are awarded & try marking it yourself mentally as you write, so you know you’ve made enough points.
If required, show all workings out.
Keep an eye on the time (take a watch!) & pace yourself.
Write as neatly & clearly as possible.
Give yourself 10 or so minutes at the end, to read through your answers.

After

Think positive! Don’t compare your answers with other people, as this can create negative feelings.
Don’t rush & check your answers in your textbook, as ultimately, it is now too late.
If you have more exams, take a break before you start revising again, as your brain is probably feeling quite frazzled now! Have something to eat & drink.
How well did you feel the test went? If necessary, adjust your techniques, as everyone works in different ways.

Good luck!

When I wrote about Living & Studying in London, Caity also asked about London style & how it differs from the rest of the world. Defining fashion is so difficult, especially when the city is full of such stylish, eccentric & eclectic people!

Being Yourself

London is full of fearless fashionistas who will brave bold, new designs & wear what they like, without a care in the world but it is also full of slaves to the latest trends. Like any place that you go, it’s important to remember to be yourself & not be sucked in by the amazing advertising & flagship stores. If you like something, then wear it— you don’t need anyone else’s approval, which I think is why London is so full of style eye-candy— people just don’t care what anyone else thinks! I’m not saying you have to strive to be different from the ‘norm’— if you want to wear the same jeans that 50% of the ladies out there are wearing, then do it! But do it because you want to.

Defining Your Style

I’ve written about how to define your style before & how difficult it can be. I hate the idea of pigeon-holing myself, as I don’t have one signature style & like to mix things up a little! For that reason, I don’t like to pigeon-hole others either, but walking across the town, you’ll see several different groups of people, that are almost always defined by the clothes that they choose to wear— metallers, punks, 50s/60s inspired looks, trend fashionistas, metrosexuals, tomboys, girly-girls, thrifters & DIY outfits, chavs & townies, sports inspired looks, designer freaks & everything you could possible think of!

Because there’s a wide range of different shops available, you’ll find people wearing every kind of outfit imaginable, so Caity, in answer to your question, London is quite different from smaller towns in the suburbs– but because of this, you can still wear what you like & ‘fit in’, because there’s not one particular style to fit into!

Bring it, ladies!

It’s all well & good writing about fashion, but all the good stuff is in the photos! There are so, SO many stylish ladies out there in London-town (& beyond!) & fortunately for us, they have blogs, so we can see just how amazing they are!

Yishyene @ Yishyene

Y does her own thing, keeping herself to herself & posts lovely outfit photos on the regular. There’s not too much about her floating around the internet, but from what I do know, she’s a crazy lady & that sometimes shows in her imaginative outfits! She mixes high-street with vintage pieces & pulls it off amazingly. Think summery skirts & dresses, with pretty shoes. Her style constantly looks so effortless & I only wish I could throw on some clothes & look equally as good!

Nikki @ Oh Fab

23, fashion-student-cum-Textiles-teacher & all-round fab gal with immense style.

Nikki loves big heels, the colour black & statement jewellery! She’s originally from Wales & brought some of her Welsh charm to London for a while, whilst she studied, but now she’s back in Wales & has dragged some London style back with her. Nikki is on-trend, but always adds her own twist & isn’t adverse to a little DIY!

Mademoiselle Robot @ Mademoiselle Robot

30, Vintage Queen, online fashion editor & quirky lady.

Mademoiselle Robot is originally from Paris & it shows, in her unique style. She mixes high-street, with designer pieces & hunts down vintage items, while helping you find your own vintage style, through her website. She’s adorably girly, without being pink & sparkly- think big, sexy bows & red lips, big skirts & petticoats & florals. She’s fearless in her fashion & wears anything that pleases her. Vintage jumpsuits? Owl brooches? Deer headband? Nautical inspiration? She’s got it all & she’s proof in the pudding that you don’t have to lose your style as you grow older & have children.

Lisa @ Pink-World & The Sassy Minx

If you hate the colour pink, cuteness & fabulous girlyness, step-away from Lisa Clark! This girl is my cup of tea, & some— sparkles, glitter, pink, stars, quirks & awesomeness! Lisa is a wannabe 60s icon & I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo of her where she’s not wearing a shade of pink, which in my eyes is a great way to live! She mixes bright colours with her dark hair & clothes, for a look that’s adaptable for fashionistas of any & every age– her style is reflective of her bold personality, & while she’s a positive & happy lady, her girly style will remain!

Carrie’s style isn’t really my bag a lot of the time, but she does what she does incredibly well! If you like lace, muted colours, bows, skirts, key designer pieces & knitting/sewing your own clothes, Carrie’s your girl & if you haven’t heard of her already, where have you been?
